New Delhi: Addressing a digital conference in Delhi, CM Arvind Kejriwal said that out of 3515 Corona cases in Delhi, 1100 cases have recovered and have been discharged from the hospitals. He also said that the testing rate in Delhi has increased, and 2300 tests per 1 million people are conducted, as against the national average of 500 tests per million people. He also said that the quantity of the ration provided will be doubled and 10 kg ration per head will be provided to the people along with kits having essential items.
Delhi had 3515 Corona cases till last night, out of which 1100 people have recovered and have been discharged, 59 people have lost their lives and there are 2362 active cases in Delhi. Common perception would be that there is a sudden and steady rise in the number of cases in Corona, but we have also decided that we will increase testing in Delhi to monitor those who have been infected and treat them thereafter. This will also ensure the prevention of the spread of Corona from infected people.
CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “Today in Delhi, we are conducting 2300 tests per 1 million people, as compared to the country’s average which is 500 tests per 1 million people. Hence, it seems like the cases are rising in Delhi. The positive aspect of this, however, is that infected people are getting recovered. A total of 1100 people have been cured and discharged to date. More recoveries are happening day by day.”
CM Arvind Kejriwal said that out of the total COVID cases in Delhi, 59 people have lost their lives, which means that the death ratio is much less here as compared to other states and countries. “We are taking all possible steps to stop the spread of Corona. We have created containment zones, which are now getting de-contained because of all our measures. We have also deployed machines for sanitization,” he added.
CM Arvind Kejriwal said that the initial results of plasma therapy are positive. “We had gotten the plasma therapy trial permitted by the Central government in the LNJP hospital in Delhi. The patient who was given the first trial and was admitted to an ICU in a critical condition has recovered and has been discharged from the hospital yesterday because of the therapy,” he added.
CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “A few statements on behalf of the union government caused the people to believe that plasma therapy will be halted in Delhi. The union government said that only the states which have been permitted by them should conduct the plasma therapy trials. The results of the plasma therapy are not final, these results are just based on trials. Initial results are satisfactory and we hope that this technique can be treated as a sustainable solution for the future.”
“We are also contacting the 1100 people who have recovered, and almost every person is ready to donate their plasma. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for wanting to save the lives of other people by donating plasma,” said the CM.
CM Arvind Kejriwal said that and the Delhi government is trying its best to provide relief to the people who have been majorly affected by the COVID lockdown. He said, “This month, we will provide them two times more for free, i.e., 10 kg ration per person, as against 5 kg ration per month. Along with the ration, we will also be providing ration kits which will have all the necessary items.”
“Many students from Delhi had been studying in Kota, and they had been waiting to come back to their city. But, we could not take any action without any approval from the central government. The central government has allowed the movement now, and around 40 private buses will be leaving for Kota. I am glad that students will reach Delhi and will be able to meet their parents tomorrow. I advise them to quarantine themselves for the next 14 days so that all of their family members are safe,” added CM Kejriwal.
CM Arvind Kejriwal said that he is in talks with other states on the status of migrant workers. “I have been getting calls and messages asking how people from Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bihar would travel back to their native places. We are regularly communicating with these state governments, and the final plan will be shared soon. Please be patient till then, and stay at home for your safety and the safety of your family members,” he said.
“I want to say to all the AAP volunteers, Aam Aadmi Party is not a party, it is a revolution, and all the volunteers of the AAP are revolutionaries. You had joined AAP by sacrificing yourself for the service of the nation. Please ensure that nobody in your area goes hungry. And in this process, please take care of yourself by following social distancing and taking all precautions. Please help everyone in need,” added the CM.
