Social Welfare Minister Rajender Pal Gautam lauded the work done by WCD department in providing relief to women and children in Delhi

  • Cabinet Minister chaired a meeting with WCD and SW Dept and He reviewed the status of all welfare schemes under the WCD & SW department.
  • Directed the officials to resolve all pending pension cases on a fast track basis.

New Delhi : Cabinet Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam on Friday held a meeting with Women and Child Development Department (WCD) and Social Welfare Department to review the status of all ongoing welfare schemes.

In the light of the Coronavirus lockdown, the department experienced difficulty in implementation of various schemes which has led to pendency.

“It has come to my notice that a lot of grievances related to pensions are unresolved. I have directed the WCD & SW department to review the pendency and resolve them on a fast track basis. Clear instructions are given that, if grievances are not timely addressed and resolved then the department will take strict action against the concerned officers” – Rajendra Pal Gautam

The Minister also reviewed the status of all the programmes under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS). Special focus was on the status of vaccination programs for children and the distribution of nutritional supplements to the beneficiaries under ICDS.

“Our mission is to eradicate malnourishment in children by strengthening primary healthcare system through Anganwadis. We aim to provide nutritious food to the children by adding more nutritional supplements like peanuts and sprouted grams. ” – Rajendra Pal Gautam

In the meeting, the Minister also lauded the work done by the staff during the lockdown.

“Our staff who worked day and night to provide relief to the people in Delhi are our Corona Warriors. The WCD Department has been providing milk packets, nutritious biscuits and food supplements to children. Our staff went beyond their call of duty to help people in Delhi during this lockdown.” – Rajendra Pal Gautam
