Launch of Counseling Helpline for productive engagement, emotional health and psychosocial support for children and parents during COVID-19 outbreak


On 7​ April, 2020, the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR), Government of NCT of Delhi launched the Counseling Helpline to provide support to children and parents in carrying out meaningful engagement and constructive day-to-day functioning during the pandemic. The helpline was launched on Twitter by Hon’ble Minister of Women and Child Development Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam.

The initiative is in collaboration with Indus Action and COVID Response, a not-for-profit initiative bridged together by three impact-first mental health organisations: Mind Piper, Aatma Prakash and I Am. A team of well-trained educationists, psychologists and counselors shall interact effectively and provide telephonic counselling from 10 am to 7 pm till 30​ April, 2020, which shall be extended as per need.

The helpline number 011-411-82977 will be operating on all days of the week. The helpline shall be useful in ensuring emotional and psychosocial well-being of the children during the COVID-19 outbreak. The Helpline can also be used by children to learn new activities to keep themselves productively yet creatively engaged in day to day routine. Parents may also call to learn about techniques to keep their children engaged focused on enhancing their creativity, academics, emotional growth, etc.
