New Delhi: Addressing a digital conference, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that there have been fewer COVID+ cases and fewer fatalities in Delhi as compared to the last week. He said that while there were 566 people admitted to the hospitals in the last week, just 34 people were admitted to the hospitals this week. The recovery rate has also doubled during this week, with 580 people recovering as against 260 people recovering last week. He also reiterated that the plasma therapy has shown positive results on the patients, and stressed on the necessity of unity amongst all religions to fight and eradicate Corona. He also said that the Delhi government will comply with the orders of the union government to allow standalone shops to remain open in the city, except in containment areas.
CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “This week has been slightly better than the previous week. There were fewer cases and fewer fatalities as compared to the week before, a lot of people have also recovered. In the seventh week since the arrival of Corona, which was last to last week, there were 850 COVID+ cases in Delhi. In the eighth week, there were 622 COVID+ cases. The pattern of the rising cases and getting to double or triple of its original count has been observed across the world, but something like this was not observed here. There were 21 COVID-19 deaths in the seventh week, and there were 9 deaths in the eighth (last) week. Our aim is that there should be no deaths due to Corona. In the seventh week, 260 people recovered and were discharged from the hospitals. 580 people recovered and were discharged from the hospitals in the eighth week, which is a good sign since the recovery rate has doubled. The net count of people who came to hospitals in the seventh week is 566, and the net count of people who came to hospitals in the eighth week is 34. The last week was good for us, people are following the lockdown in a disciplined manner, and we will soon be able to win our fight against Corona if we continue to follow the lockdown protocol like this.”
Last Sunday, CM Arvind Kejriwal clarified that there would be no relaxation on lockdown restrictions and that this decision will be reviewed on April 27. He said, “The central government has decided to open a few neighborhood shops, we will follow the MHA order in Delhi as well. The essential services will remain open, but the markets, complexes, and shopping malls will remain shut. Only standalone and neighborhood shops such as those in residential areas will be allowed to open. However, standalone and neighborhood shops that fall under the containment area will remain closed. Nothing else, other than what is mentioned in this order, will be allowed to re-open till May 3, which is another one week. We have worked hard to ensure stability and strength in our battle against Corona, and we should not let anything push us back.” CM Arvind Kejriwal said that the resumption of services in Delhi will be decided based on the decision of the Central government on the nation-wide lockdown announced by the PM.
“The plasma therapy is showing positive results as of now. I am monitoring each patient. The health of one of the patients in LNJP yesterday was sinking. After plasma therapy, his health has improved, and it has also boosted our confidence and enthusiasm regarding plasma therapy. I hope that he will recover soon,” added CM Arvind Kejriwal.
CM Arvind Kejriwal said that the main motive of his government is zero death rate related to COVID-19. He said, “Our doctors and nurses and all the frontline health workers try their best to save each and every life. I am personally monitoring the health of each patient in our hospitals. We are requesting the patients who are recovering to donate plasma. I am happy that people are coming to the front to save the lives of others. People of all faiths and religions are coming forward to save the lives of people belonging to other faiths and religions. What if the life of a Hindu patient is saved by the plasma donated by a Muslim patient who has recovered from COVID-19, and what if a Muslim patient who is serious is saved by a Hindu patient. God has created us all equal, with the same features. There are no walls and no differences between us, the walls of religion and faith have been created by us. Corona can infect people of all faiths and religions, and plasma donated by a person, whether Hindu or Muslim or any other faith, can save the lives of everybody. If people of all faiths such as Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christians, Jain, Buddh, stand united, the whole world together cannot defeat us.”
