Frequently Asked Questions

These are some frequently asked questions with answers from our medical experts

The most common symptoms of Coronavirus are:
📍 Fever
📍 Difficulty in breathing
📍 Sore throat
📍 Dry cough
📍 Nasal congestion and running nose

These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people do become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell. About 80% recover from the disease without needing special treatment. Around 16% of all Coronavirus patients become seriously ill and develop difficulty breathing.

All persons across all age groups are equally at risk of getting an infection if exposed. However, the disease may have serious outcomes in people above the age of 60 years of age and young children. In addition, persons with pre-existing health conditions like high blood pressure, heart problems, asthma and diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness.

If you or somebody from your family is sick, please do not panic. Several Corona Testing Centres (CTCs) have been established by the Delhi government. To avail the services of these testing centres, you only have to take care of two things – first check, then test.

If you observe symptoms of fever, cold, difficulty in breathing or came in contact with a foreign traveler or a Corona patient, check first. To check, please contact your local GP, Mohalla Clinic or call on 1031 and find information about your nearest Corona Testing Centre.

At the Corona Testing Center, trained staff will examine you according to your symptoms. After examination, the doctor will advise on whether you need a Corona test or not. Your sample will be immediately collected on the spot and you will get your report by next day. Patients who will test positive will be sent to our Corona hospitals.

Follow these simple steps to protect yourself from infection:

📍 Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds regularly. Alternatively, if soap is not available, then you can use a hand sanitizer.
📍 Follow social distancing guidelines – always maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and others, especially if they are coughing or sneezing.
📍 Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
📍 Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow when you cough or sneeze.

Wear a face mask when stepping outside:
📍 Face masks are now mandatory for people to wear when stepping outside.
📍 No, it is not necessary to use N95 masks if you are not a healthcare worker. Cloth masks or homemade masks are also permitted.
📍 Face masks are known to reduce the risk of contraction of the virus.

The Delhi government has established 21 CTCs, where trained medical staff will examine you for your symptoms. Based on the result of your examination, the doctor will advise you on whether you need a Corona test or not. Immediate samples will be collected and reports will be issued the next day.
